Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory Application Window will Open Soon

Through a partnership between the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Learning Undefeated, the Texas Mobile STEM Lab will continue to provide STEM engagement opportunities for students during the 2025–2026 school year. Using custom-outfitted STEM learning spaces, the mobile labs offer engaging, hands-on educational experiences for kindergarten through grade 8 students and teachers. The application window is April 1, 2025, through May 31, 2025. All Texas public schools that offer classes for kindergarten through grades 8 are eligible to register for a free visit during the 2025–2026 school year. At least one school district from each educational region will receive a visit. 

The Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory is Hiring Education Outreach Coordinators

The Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory, operated by Learning Undefeated in partnership with the Texas Education Agency, is expanding. Learning Undefeated is currently hiring education outreach coordinators as instructors in the new traveling laboratories.

Texas EcosySTEM Professional Development

Leadership Badge

 

Statewide STEM Leadership Training (A TEALearn Badge can be earned for this training.)

This immersive professional development prepares campus administrators to shape, support, and sustain STEM initiatives within their district or campus. Participants will learn by doing, engaging directly in the instructional approaches most critical to the STEM endeavor: project-based learning, design-based challenges, and computational thinking. This training is available through the education service centers (ESC).

 

Teacher Badge

Statewide STEM Teacher Training (A TEALearn Badge can be earned for this training.)

This professional development prepares teachers for successful implementation of STEM instruction in their classrooms by immersing teachers directly in the role of STEM learner, engaging first-hand in high-impact STEM practices such as project-based learning, design-based challenges, and computational thinking. This training is available through the education service centers (ESC).

 

TEA’s STEM Coordinators Network:

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is excited to announce the new STEM Coordinators Network.

Purpose: The purpose of this network is to empower STEM coordinators with the tools and knowledge they need to create engaging and effective STEM programs. TEA aims to foster a supportive network where members can exchange ideas, tackle common challenges, and drive continuous improvement in STEM education.

Who Should Join: This group is designed for district and campus-level STEM coordinators, education service center STEM leads, higher education STEM directors, and STEM directors at non-profit organizations—anyone involved in the decision making authority for STEM programs at a systemic level. Texas Mobile Lab Mid-Year Report

The Texas Mobile STEM Lab began in-person programming in Diboll, TX in September 2024. During the fall semester of the 2024–2025 school year, the Texas Mobile STEM Lab has reached:

>> 2,885 students
>> 128 teachers
>> 443 family members
>> 16 school campuses, and
>> 9 ESC regions

The spring semester began in Corrigan, TX, and the Texas Mobile STEM Labs are scheduled to serve 30 campuses this semester. The Texas Mobile STEM Lab program is expanding the fleet, and two new labs will join the fleet in March. Campuses interested in receiving a mobile lab visit during the 2025-2026 school year should apply during between April 1–May 31, 2025. WeTeach_CS Mini-Grants

As a courtesy to our readers, the following information from an external stakeholder has been included.

WeTeach_CS is offering educators mini-grants to improve teaching and learning in the classroom. The grants support instructional resources and materials for K–12 computer science. Projects could include after-school activities, summer camps, or in-school programs. Complete this form to apply for one of ten WeTeach_CS mini-grants. Eligible applicants are Texas teachers in private, public, or charter schools. (Past WeTeach_CS mini-grant recipients are not eligible to apply.) Institutions of recipients will be provided up to $5,000 in advance of projects to support activities which must be completed by May 31, 2026. The WeTeach_CS mini grants application deadline is March 21, 2025.

Sea Perch

Dive into STEM with RoboNation and SeaPerch!

As a courtesy to our readers, the following information from an external stakeholder has been included.

RoboNation is excited to introduce educators across Texas to the SeaPerch Program, an underwater educational robotics tool designed to inspire the next generation in STEM. Designed for middle and high school students, SeaPerch provides hands-on opportunities to build and operate remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), fostering essential skills in engineering, problem-solving, and collaboration. 

Thanks to the generous support from the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC), Texas educators can access free robotics kits and professional development workshops to seamlessly integrate SeaPerch in their classrooms. The program’s curriculum aligns with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), delivering valuable STEM learning experiences that prepare students for future careers.
