Notice of Competitive Grant Opportunity Cancellation
TEA is announcing the cancellation of the 2025-2026 Texas GEAR UP (GU) Grants to Districts IDC competition, Request for Application (RFA) # 701-25-117.
The GEAR UP notice inviting applications for the 2025 GEAR UP State Grant was posted by the US Department of Education (USDE) earlier than anticipated. The new deadline for the federal competition prevents TEA from using a state level IDC competition to determine the LEAs that will be included in TEA’s application to USDE.
Alternatively, TEA will be using several data sources to select partners in an expedited process. TEA will use currently available campus and district performance reports, results, and indicators to identify and select eligible districts and/or charters to be included in the TEA’s application to USDE.
TEA anticipates notifying LEAs selected to be included in TEA’s application to USDE by December 20, 2024. Selected districts will be notified of the anticipated grant timeline if TEA’s application to USDE is selected for award.
