Free Texas Mobile STEM Lab Professional Development

Learning Undefeated’s Texas Mobile STEM Lab team will offer free virtual professional development opportunities for kindergarten–grade 8 teachers. During the sessions, the Learning Undefeated team will walk educators through the free hands-on engineering design challenges available through the Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory. Sessions will also guide participants in developing and facilitating their own TEKS-aligned engineering design challenges. Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory lessons are cross-curricular, and all lessons are aligned with science and math TEKS and other subject areas as applicable.

6th grade–8th grade: Wednesday, September 25 | 4:00 PM Central registration

2024–2025 Texas STEM Pathways Challenge: Ignite your ideas, shape tomorrow

This year’s Texas STEM Pathways Challenge invites Texas high school students to explore the topic of Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure and answer a pressing question: What can school districts do to become more sustainable and build a more resilient community?

Campuses will form student teams of up to four students, guided by a dedicated local teacher or administrative sponsor, and venture into the realm of science, technology, engineering, and math. Students will unleash their creativity, develop groundbreaking solutions, and contribute to a more resilient future for Texas! Awards await innovative submissions, with scholarships that can shape student's academic journeys. This challenge is an opportunity to make a real-world impact while gaining valuable skills for the future.

With a wealth of free resources supporting grades 6–9 teachers and students, the eCYBERMISSION STEM competition can integrate with existing instructional materials. Throughout this online competition, teachers are provided access to eCYBERMISSION staff, standards-aligned resources, live chats with STEM professionals, grant opportunities, and much more. All resources are available as student teams prepare to present projects for awards worth tens of thousands of dollars. The eCYBERMISSION is one of many programs offered by the Army Educational Outreach Program and is administered by the National Science Teaching Association.

To get started in the STEM competition, an adult (typically a teacher) should complete the team advisor registration. Next, divide students into teams of 2-4 and help them register. Students will then select a community problem to address for their project and select a scientific investigation or engineering design as a project pathway. Discover STEM walks with talkSTEM: Empowering Teachers, Inspiring Students

TalkSTEM, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to transforming STEM education by supporting teachers as they engage all students in STEM. TalkSTEM’s open-access video library showcases real-world-situated and inquiry-based math, science, and STEM in TEKS-aligned videos. The short videos show students science and math concepts they can find in parks, playgrounds, zoos, museums, malls, and more. TalkSTEM guides students in observing and posing relevant questions that show the interdisciplinary nature of real-world settings.
