EMAT Prerequisites for School Year 2024–25
EMAT is open for the 2024–25 school year. Local education agencies (LEAs) are able to submit requisitions and allotment disbursement requests after all the following prerequisites are met:
-
Complete the TEKS Certification 2024–25 process, which includes ratification of the TEKS Certification 2024–25 Form and submission of the TEKS Certification 2024–25 Survey. Information on the TEKS Certification 2024–25 process can be found on the State-Adopted Instructional Materials page of the TEA website.
-
Enter at least three preferred shipment date ranges for summer; use the Update Summer Ship Dates link on the district start page.
-
Confirm or update EMAT contacts and addresses; use the Confirm Contacts and Confirm Addresses links on the district start page.
For assistance or questions about EMAT prerequisites, please submit an Instructional Materials Help Desk ticket.
To facilitate prompt delivery for the upcoming school year, TEA recommends placing Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) requisitions for braille by June 6, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. Large-print or audio requisitions should be placed by July 16, 2024. EMAT prerequisites do not need to be met before placing AIM requisitions and the cost of state-adopted AIM does not come out of an LEA’s Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment funds.
Please note, if an uncontracted braille title is needed for a student but is not listed in EMAT, please submit a Help Desk ticket to request that it be made available for ordering. Additional information and resources can be found on the Accessible Instructional Materials page of the TEA website.
The State Board of Education (SBOE) posted 142 instructional materials for public feedback as part of the new Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process. The public comment period is from May 29, 2024, to August 16, 2024, and members of the public are encouraged to review instructional materials and submit written comments, report suspected factual errors, or share any suitability concerns. To see the list of materials submitted for review, access copies of the instructional materials themselves, SBOE feedback forms, and SBOE-approved IMRA rubrics, please visit sboe.texas.gov/imra.
This IMRA cycle includes full-subject, tier-one instructional materials intended for classroom-wide instruction to support all students in K–5 English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR), Spanish Language Arts and Reading (SLAR), and K–12 mathematics. Additionally, partial-subject, tier-one instructional materials for K–3 English and Spanish phonics are also up for the public to review.
All materials are being reviewed by independent teams of professional reviewers – teachers, parents and other curriculum experts – based on how well they support on-grade-level instruction of the SBOE’s curriculum standards, and they are also being evaluated based on rubrics the SBOE has developed to analyze instructional material quality and suitability. In addition to these professional reviews, the SBOE welcomes review and feedback from all members of the public. All feedback and recommendations collected from the public will be considered alongside findings from the professional review teams at forthcoming SBOE meetings as part of the approval process.
