Updates related to Educator Preparation Program Management

New: Action Required - Title II Reporting
The Title II website is now available for all EPPs to complete their required federal reporting. All EPP Title II representatives should have received notification via email. If your EPP’s Title II reporting lead did not receive an email, please reach out to title2@trewon.com.

To begin, please log in to the system. Go to https://title2.ed.gov/ and select "Submit Reports" in the upper righthand corner of the webpage. Your username and password remain the same. To recover a username or password, select "Forgot your username or password?" and enter your email.

For support in completing this report, please visit https://title2.ed.gov/Public/TA.aspx for links to a Glossary of Key Terms and Reporting Requirements. Instructions are included in the reporting instrument. If you have specific questions, please email title2@trewon.com.

This reporting is due April 20. As a reminder, TEA does not provide technical support for this required federal reporting. We do, however, monitor EPP completion to ensure that all EPPs are in compliance with this requirement.

Pro Tip: In the past, responses from the Title II Help Desk have been delayed during high volume times. We suggest doing this reporting as soon as possible, so that you can avoid any challenges with their Help Desk.

Reminder: Chapter 228 Informational Webinar and Next Steps
Thank you for attending the Chapter 228 Informational Webinar, which provided an overview of recently adopted updates to the rules. TEA staff plan to post the recording to the Program Provider Resources page for those unable to attend. In addition, during the webinar, TEA staff collected questions from attendees and will use those questions, and others shared by the field, to develop a Frequently Asked Questions document.  Links to the posted webinar and FAQ document will be shared in upcoming newsletters once the postings are live.

Reminder: Office Hours Cancelled
In a previous newsletter, registration links were also shared for EPP office hours. Those office hours will be rescheduled for an upcoming date, which will also be shared in an upcoming newsletter.

Thanks to all of you for the questions you have been submitting and for your continued collaboration in this work. We look forward to interacting with you again soon.

Reminder: ASEP Reporting 2023-2024 Mid-Year Data Set Availability
The Mid-Year Data Sets for 2023-2024 were uploaded into the ShareFile file lockers available to Legal Authorities or Primary Points of Contact on Monday, April 1. The Legal Authority or Primary Point of Contact should have received an email when the data became available in ShareFile, that included information about the data and helpful instructions for accessing the Sharefile file locker.

Reminder: Updated Completed Studies and New Hires Dashboards
Several reports created and maintained by the EDRS-EPCE team at TEA have been updated to reflect employment data from the 2023-2024 school year. These reports can be found on the Educator Reports and Data page. Reports that have been updated include but are not limited to:

FAQs

We take this space to highlight questions that we have heard from EPPs.

Q: Is it acceptable to place a candidate who is seeking a certificate in Social Studies 4-8 with a cooperating teacher who has a History 7-12 certification?

A: For the clinical teaching assignment, the cooperating teacher must be certified in the certification category for which the clinical teaching candidate is seeking certification. If an individual who meets the certification and/or experience criteria for a cooperating teacher, mentor, or site supervisor is not available, the EPP and campus or district administrator shall assign an individual who most closely meets the criteria and document the reason for selecting an individual that does not meet the criteria. Reference 19 TAC §228.2(14) and 19 TAC §228.35(f).

Q: If a candidate has completed the program but has failed the content exam Social Studies 7-12 five times and asks to obtain a History 7-12 certificate instead, are they able to do so?

A: If an educator was admitted as a Social Studies 7-12 candidate and was marked as a finisher, then they were prepared in that certificate area. If an educator wants to obtain a certificate in another area, then they will need to enroll and complete a program for the History 7-12 certificate. Reference 19 TAC §228.40(d) and 19 TAC §230.21(b).
