Middle School Advanced Mathematics Programs 

TEA has published a proposed rule on the new middle school advanced mathematics programs required by Senate Bill 2124 (88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2023). The proposal outlines the requirements related to automatic enrollment of certain middle school students into an advanced mathematics program designed to prepare students to enroll in Algebra I in Grade 8.

The proposed rule is listed under Proposed New 19 TAC Chapter 74, Curriculum Requirements, Subchapter DD, Commissioner's Rules Concerning Mathematics Instruction, §74.2101, Middle School Advanced Mathematics Program. 

The public comment period for the proposal concludes today March 25, 2024. 

Individual Graduation Committees Information and Webinar 

Updated guidance and frequently asked questions regarding individual graduation committees (IGC) were recently posted on the IGC webpage on the TEA website.

Effective Advising Framework (EAF)

TEA has launched of the EAF Website. The website includes framework details and information about how implementing the EAF supports districts in developing an individual planning system within their comprehensive school counseling program. Districts interested in partnering with their Education Service Center for EAF Coaching support should contact their regional ESC.

Middle School Advanced Mathematics Programs Webinar 

TEA is hosting a webinar to discuss the middle school advanced mathematics programs on March 28, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time. Interested individuals must register for the webinar in advance. Topics will include an overview of the program and frequently asked questions.

2024 Mental and Behavioral Health Webinar Series

The Texas Education Agency’s Safe & Supportive Schools Division and our Project AWARE Texas partners will be hosting a series of monthly webinars to highlight resources and best practice strategies on timely and relevant safe and supportive schools topics. The webinar sessions will be held the 2nd Thursday of every month from January to June at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm via Zoom webinar. Topics will include school mental health, substance abuse prevention, school discipline, early mental health interventions, approaches to whole child student support, and building community partnerships to increase capacityCPE credits will be made available to those who attend the full live session.  https://schoolmentalhealthtx.org/webinars/
