2023-2024 School Health Survey—Deadline May 24, 2024

The 2023-2024 Annual School Health Survey is now available. Additional information regarding the survey and the link to participate are provided in the March 21, 2024, To the Administrator Addressed (TAA) Letter.

Districts and open-enrollment charter schools must complete the 2023-2024 survey on or before 5:00 pm (Central) on May 24, 2024.

Health Education and Physical Education Informative Session—April 4, 2024

TEA will be hosting an informative session for health and physical education administrators and educators providing updates regarding health education and physical education. The session will also review fitness assessment requirements and options for data submission, school health survey requirements, and the required report on physical education. Please see registration information below. (Session will not be recorded.)

Texas Fruit and Vegetable Day—April 5, 2024

House Bill (HB) 3991, 88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, added new Texas Education Code (TEC) §29.9073 designating the first Friday in April as Texas Fruit and Vegetable Day in public schools to promote awareness of the health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables. School nutrition teams and health educators can use Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) resources and their own activities as they encourage students to eat fruits and vegetables.
