Middle School Advanced Mathematics Programs – Public Comment
TEA has published a proposed rule on the new middle school advanced mathematics programs required by Senate Bill 2124 (88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2023). The proposal outlines the requirements related to automatic enrollment of certain middle school students into an advanced mathematics program designed to prepare students to enroll in Algebra I in Grade 8.

The proposed rule is listed under Proposed New 19 TAC Chapter 74, Curriculum Requirements, Subchapter DD, Commissioner's Rules Concerning Mathematics Instruction, §74.2101, Middle School Advanced Mathematics Program.
The public comment period for the proposal runs from February 23, 2024, to March 25, 2024.
Middle School Advanced Mathematics Programs – Webinar
In support of the proposed commissioner’s rules on middle school advanced mathematics programs, TEA will be hosting a webinar on the new middle school advanced mathematics programs required by Senate Bill 2124 (88th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2023).
