FAQs

We take this space to highlight questions that we have heard from EPPs.

Q: Can a Trade and Industrial candidate qualify for a Clinical Teaching Experience placement?

A: No. Trade and Industrial candidates must complete an internship. Reference 19 TAC §233.14(d)(3) An individual seeking initial certification as a teacher and completing requirements through an EPP must complete one year of creditable classroom teaching experience, as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), on an intern or probationary certificate in the specific area of trade and industrial education.

Q: What are the certification requirements for teaching CTE courses?

A: The Teacher Assignment Chart, available on the Certification page of the TEA website, outlines requirements for teachers in career and technical education assignments. The 19 TAC §233.14 contains the work experience requirements for each Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate.
