Texas Accountability Advisory Group (TAAG) and ESC Advisory Group (EAG) Meetings were held January 23 and 25, 2024

The objective of these meetings was to welcome TAAG and EAG members to the New Year and to review proposals to provide the Commissioner of Education with recommendations related to the academic accountability system. The next steps are to be responsive to both committees’ feedback and begin the public comment period in Spring 2024. TEA utilizes the feedback collected from all sources throughout the year to continually seek ways to strengthen the accountability system for the purpose of improving student outcomes.

The TAAG Meeting Presentation can be found on the 2024 Accountability Development Materials page.

PEIMS and Accountability FAQ

How are PEIMS data used to determine a student’s cohort for longitudinal graduation rate calculations?

When calculating longitudinal graduation rates, students are assigned to a cohort based on their first appearance in Grade 9 in Texas public schools (TPS) and remain in their cohort, regardless of grade, for the rest of their time in TPS. Attendance data from PEIMS Submission 3 are used to assign students to cohorts. For example, if a student began the 2023-24 school year as an 8th grader and then became a 9th grade in January 2024, the student would be assigned to the class of 2027 based on the 9th grade attendance reported for 2023-24.
