Educator Preparation Program Support

Updates related to Educator Preparation Program Management

Reminder: ASEP Data Update
On 12/6, TEA sent updated ASEP data sets to EPPs. This was necessary due to a limited number of systematic issues that were identified in our data processing. For a small number of EPPs, this resulted in an update to the recommended status. More information about those issues and next steps was included in the email.

As always, we appreciate our close collaboration with the field as we work through the ASEP calculation process. The work to identify and resolve these issues was aided by communication between the EDRS team and individuals at EPPs working to deeply understand the data, methods, and calculations. We are grateful to these individuals and all our stakeholders who support continuous improvement in this area.

Educators Standards and Testing

Updates related to Educator Standards and Certification Testing

Reminder: TX185 Deafblind Supplemental: EC-12 Pilot Test Opportunity
Pearson is conducting pilot testing for the new 185 Deafblind Supplemental: EC-12 exam. Pilot testing is intended to collect information on the performance of exam questions to be used at future exam administrations. Pilot testing will be available at Pearson VUE test centers throughout Texas from January 2, 2024 through January 30, 2024. Registration information can be found here. Please note that participation in a pilot test does not satisfy certification requirements or count against a candidate’s test attempts. Participants and educator preparation programs do not receive a Pass/Fail status or a score report. If you have questions or need further information, please contact the Texas Educator Certification Examination Program at estexas@pearson.com.

Educator Preparation and Certification

Updates related to Educator Preparation and Certification

New: Data Sets Provided to EPPs
The current exams for the Physical Education EC-12, Health EC-12, and/or ELAR 7-12 certificates, 158, 157, and 231 respectively, are proposed to expire on 9/1/2024. On 12/13/2023, we created lists for EPPs of their candidates who were past finishers or who are currently enrolled pursuing certification in these certificate areas and uploaded them into the EPP ShareFile folder we use for conveying ASEP data. The Legal Authority or Primary Point of Contact for each EPP was sent an email with relevant information and instructions to access this data. Please use this data to start conversations with your finishers and enrollees around completing requirements efficiently in these certificate areas so that candidates who qualify can be standard certified before expiration deadlines.
