Medicaid Enrollment : SHARS Speech Language Pathology & Audiology Providers
Students receiving SHARS speech or audiology from a speech-language pathologist (SLP) or an audiologist are required to have a Medicaid referral before a claim to Medicaid is submitted. When the Medicaid referral is completed by the local education agency (LEA) staff, that staff member must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) that is registered with Texas Medicaid. Previously, staff registered as an Individual. Now, there is an option to enroll as an Ordering, Referring, and Prescribing (ORP) provider. If the provider has an active enrollment as an Individual and provides services outside of SHARS, there is no need to enroll as an ORP provider. However, providers with an active enrollment as an Individual and who do not provide services outside of SHARS are expected to enroll as an ORP provider to avoid disenrollment. Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) is hosting additional town hall sessions. These sessions will be the same as the ones that were hosted on September 21 and 22, 2023. If you were able to successfully complete the enrollment update, you do not need to register for these new sessions.
Enrollment Town Hall
The sessions will have a capacity of 100 participants and will guide providers through disenrolling their Individual enrollment and creating an ORP enrollment.
To register, select the session that you would like to attend, and then select from the drop-down menu.
If you are unable to attend, you can review the presentation online.
Providers who would like to participate will need to access PEMS through the My Account link on tmhp.com. Make sure that you can access My Account prior to joining the Town Hall. If you need to reset your account password, use Section 5.0, “Resetting a Forgotten Password,” of the following job aid: Basic Tasks for Managing an Account on the TMHP Secure Provider Portal Job Aid.
Providers can also reach out to the Electronic Data Interchange department for account assistance by calling 888-863-3638.
