TEA is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2023-2025 TRI Literacy Coach Professional Development. Request for Application (RFA) #701-24-110 is authorized by the LII U.S. Code Title 20, Chapter 70, Subchapter II, Part B, Subpart 2, § 6642. The RFA is available on the TEA Grant Opportunities Page.
Eligibility
ESCs are the only eligible entities that can apply. Grant funds will be used to support activities that directly impact learning in Kindergarten-Grade 12.
Grant Period
- February 5, 2024, through September 30, 2025.
- This grant is expected to have up to one year of continuation funding subject to future appropriations by the U.S. Congress.
Funding
- A total of approximately $811,969 is available for this grant program.
- It is anticipated that approximately one grant will be awarded.
Description
TEA seeks to provide a grant to provide professional development for the pipeline of literacy coaches created through the Texas Reading Initiative (TRI). The TRI grants have provided 58 literacy coaches to school districts, charters, and Education Service Centers (ESCs). This grant will provide professional development to all 58 TRI grant coaches as well as other coaches provided through the Texas Reading Initiative.
Application Deadline
Applications must be received by the Texas Education Agency by 11:59 p.m. (Central Time), November 13, 2023, to be considered for funding.
