From the System Support Team

Greetings, all!

Last month I had the pleasure of moderating a panel at the National Association of Charter School Authorizers  (NACSA) Conference in Minneapolis with members of the Edgewood ISD and Texas A&M-San Antonio leadership teams. We had a great conversation about how K-12 and Higher Ed partnerships can create high-quality, best-fit options for families, just like they’re doing at three campuses in EISD.

Dr. H always speaks so eloquently about the Superintendent's role in creating a culture of innovation and “out of the box” thinking all in service of kids and families. We’re excited to bring a group of SGS leaders to Edgewood for a Learning Lab in February 2023!

As they say in Lone Star Governance, “Student outcomes don’t change until adult behaviors change,” and it’s always a joy to see leaders actively pushing the adult-led systems to become more responsive to kids and families.

Be well and keep in touch!

-Chris DeWitt, Director of the Division of System Support

Tyler ISD

Commissioner Mike Morath visited Tyler ISD to see how they’ve implemented High Quality Instructional Materials into their curriculum.

Spring ISD

Spring ISD, which is a System of Great Schools district and School Action Fund recipient, was invited to share their approach to Whole School Redesign with a group of TEA stakeholders this month. Through the School Action Fund program, Spring ISD formed a cohort of 4 campuses that are all redesigning their learning environments using a Blended Learning model. These strategies have resulted in all four campuses improving at least two letter grades in 2021-2022 state accountability ratings.
