Or, EPPs (and candidates) may call (512) 936-8400 and select Option #5: Educator Preparation Programs. If an Education Specialist is not available to answer the call at that time, please leave a voicemail. An Education Specialist will promptly return the call.

Updates related to Educator Preparation Program Management
Update: LBB Reporting – Technical Difficulties
As noted in an email on Friday, September 23, due to a glitch within ECOS, EPPs are currently unable to upload their 2020-2021 graduates, as this option is not available on the relevant drop-down menu. This is required for LBB reporting. After research by our IT department, we determined that we will not be able to implement a fix to the dropdown menu in time for EPPs to upload their own data and meet the LBB reporting timeline.
To support EPPs in meeting the LBB reporting timeline, we have identified a workaround for this year. TEA will gather this data from EPPs and directly load it into the system. Once the data is loaded into the system, EPPs will be able to retrieve their report in ECOS as usual. To support this effort, please follow these instructions:

Construct your .csv file as described in the ASEP Manual. Please note that these are your undergraduate teacher education program graduates for 2020-2021.

Name your .csv file with your EPP name and CDN.

Create a Help Desk Ticket in the Data Reporting tab and attached your file. Please title your ticket “LBB Data for Upload (EPP Name)”

Once TEA has loaded the data, we will reply to the ticket informing you that you can now view your 2021-2022 LBB report.
We anticipate being able to support EPPs as long as this data is submitted by Friday, October 7.
Again, if you uploaded your 2020-2021 graduates prior to the emergence of this glitch, you just need to view your 2021-2022 LBB report. If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out via a Help Desk Ticket.
Updates related to Educator Standards and Certification Testing
Proposed Effective Date: December 19, 2022
Reminder: ELAR 7-12 (331) and Physical Education EC-12 (258) Redesigned Exam One-pagers
Both the ELAR 7-12 (331) and Physical Education EC-12 (258) exams will launch in September 2023. Please find important information for each redesigned exam in the one-pagers linked here: ELAR 7-12 (331) and Physical Education EC-12 (258). As we prepare for the launch of these exams, more information regarding the exams and aligned capacity building opportunities will be shared in upcoming months.
Every newsletter we take this space to highlight questions that we have heard from EPPs.
Q: When will the EPPs that were reviewed in 2021-2022 go forth to SBEC for continuing approval?
A: All EPPs will be presented for action at the December 9, 2022, SBEC meeting. The SBEC Meeting Agendas are posted on the TEA website.
Q: ASEP Reporting 2021-2022 is now complete and the 2021-2022 year is locked. Is there anything my EPP should be doing now?
A: Yes, All EPPs should be entering admissions within 7-calendar days as required in 19 TAC §227.15 and 19 TAC §227.17, all formal observations for all candidates in all classes should be uploaded into ASEP as they occur, candidates should be given test approval as the EPP has determined their readiness to test per 19 TAC §228.40(d), and candidates should be marked as other enrolled or finisher on your finisher records list as applicable. ASEP Reporting is not an event, it is a continuous cycle that should be carefully monitored throughout the year. Finally, we recommend that EPPs start to create their files for submitting clinical experience information. This new collection will begin in ECOS in December, andwill include individuals involved in an internship, clinical teaching, or practicum this reporting year. TEALearn has a new dyslexia training, TEA Dyslexia, that has been made available (at no cost) to candidates who are seeking an initial certification for all certification classes. Information about the training and how to enroll can be found on the TEA Learn platform. NOTE: For candidates who have not yet been issued an intern, probationary, or standard certificate, please follow the steps noted on the webpage, Dyslexia Requirements for Educator Preparation Programs, to enroll in the course.
