Updates to ESSER FAQs

Due to ESSER I ending on September 30, 2022 and the potential of lapsing ESSER I funds, TEA has posted two FAQs addressing this for LEAs and PNPs:

T-Q10

Our LEA has yet to receive any response from private schools who requested equitable services through ESSER I, what can we do to ensure that the funds do not lapse on September 30, 2022?

If an LEA has reached out to private schools and has yet to received a response, the LEA might be able to reallocate those funds to district uses so that they do not lapse, ONLY if the following conditions are met:

  • MUST have documented that multiple attempts were made to consult with private school, and
  • MUST send one last request giving at least 48 hours for the private school to respond, which includes a notification that if they do not respond that their allotment for equitable services will be reallocated to district uses to prevent lapsing of funds.

T-Q11

Our LEA has written documentation from private schools participating in equitable service that there is no longer a need for additional services, are we able to reallocate those funds to district uses, so that these funds do not lapse on September 30, 2022?

Yes, if the LEA has in writing from all participating private schools that no additional services are needed then the district may reallocate the funds to district uses to prevent them from lapsing.
