Book Announcement

C for Curiosity

Bridges Graduate School Associate Dean Dr. Lin Lim recently published C for Curiosity, a photo journey written through the lens of a cognitively diverse, gifted multi-cultural child. This book aims to leverage a child's curiosity as a bridge to dialogue, understand, and celebrate the beauty and wonder of different minds, perspectives, and subjective lived experiences.

This photo book includes 34 pages of carefully curated personal family photos collected over the years, paired with rhythmic lyrical phrases and original pieces of artwork created by Lin's son. This is an invitation for readers to discover, rediscover, and marvel at the collective richness found when we open our minds through active engagement in being curious and wondering why, how, what, who, and when.

Support Gifted Students and Advocate for Gifted Education

Families of G/T students statewide are invited to join the Gifted Education Family Network (GEFN)!  GEFN is a statewide nonprofit organization providing support, information, and connections for families of gifted students in all populations.  We are committed to equity and diversity in gifted education, and we engage in advocacy to support excellence in gifted programming across the state.  In addition to providing programming and resources for families, we support the annual G/T Parent Conference at the Baylor Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development and other low-cost opportunities for parent and caregiver engagement. Now is a perfect time for gifted education supporters to connect and organize to provide a unified voice.

To join for free, subscribe to our newsletter (https://giftededucationfamilynetwork.org/subscribe/)!  We invite you to visit our website (giftededucationfamilynetwork.org) to access our social media links and to learn more about our mission, vision, and advisors.

Education Serviced Center (ESC) G/T Coordinators, District G/T Coordinators, and G/T educators: To ensure that GEFN is accessible to families at all income levels, membership is completely free.  Providing information about GEFN to G/T parents in your district can help meet the compliance requirement in State Plan Section 6.4 (“The opportunity to participate in a parent association and/or gifted/talented advocacy groups is provided to parents and community members”).   If you would like us to help promote a low-cost event for G/T parents in your area, or if we can provide other assistance, please contact president@giftededucationfamilynetwork.org.
