Statewide STEM Professional Development
Across Texas, Education Service Centers are gearing up for summer training. Don't miss your opportunity to participate in the TEA Statewide STEM training this summer.
K-12 State-wide STEM Leadership and Teacher Training
TEA is excited to announce during the summer of 2021 each ESC across Texas will be offering K-12 STEM Leadership and Teacher training to support STEM education in Texas. Check local ESC workshop catalogs for the dates of these trainings.
STEM Leadership Training
This two-day immersive professional development prepares campus administrators to shape, support, and sustain STEM initiatives within their districts and campuses. Participants will learn by doing, engaging directly in the instructional approaches most critical to the STEM endeavor: project-based learning, design-based challenges, and computational thinking.
STEM Teacher Training
This three-day professional development prepares teachers for successful implementation of STEM instruction in their classrooms by immersing them directly in the role of STEM learner, engaging first-hand in high-impact STEM practices such as project-based learning, design-based challenges, and computational thinking.

Federal STEM Highlight
My STEM Adventure App The Department’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)-funded the STEM Innovation for Inclusion in Early Education (STEMIE) Center and created My STEM Adventure App. The app is a fully accessible/born accessible app that will guide families or other adults in children’s lives to engage in STEM activities with young children from birth to 5 years old. The app provides step-by-step guidance for families or teachers to lead young children, including those with disabilities, on adventures in their homes or neighborhoods to learn about STEM. The prototype is now available and has been tested with families and practitioners with young children with disabilities. STEMIE is continuing to develop more adventures and additional accessibility features this year.

Southside ISD Texas Mobile STEM Visit and STEM Night
Southside ISD's Heritage Elementary had 373 students from 3rd-5th grade explore and learn on the Texas Mobile STEM Lab. Students designed solutions for engineering problems dealing with pollination, flooding, balance, and circuitry. After a week in the lab, students brought their families to participate in the Texas Mobile STEM Night. About 63 Heritage family members enjoyed building prototypes together and touring the Texas Mobile Lab. The picture features Heritage Elementary families at the STEM Night kick-off meeting.
