Welcome
“For 12 years that goal [The Super Bowl] wasn’t reached and it tore me up inside, but I knew I could keep playing and try to find a way […] [a]nd the fact that we reached that goal today is so special.” - Matthew Stafford
You cannot open any news source without seeing the celebration of quarterback Matthew Stafford finally winning a Super Bowl. After 12 years of non-winning seasons, a trade for lucky year 13 paid off in a huge way. However, to me, the message is just more than what can be accomplished through grit and tenacity, but a message of finding the right fit for success and being around a team that can support you in areas that you are weak. As a player, not much has changed about Stafford, however, when he allowed himself to step out of the comfort of a team that he had known for 12 years, step into something new, and embracing the changes, he found success. He showed that winning was about more than just being at his best, but finding the right team, with the right skills, that allowed him to be successful.
As we work to build the next generation of educators, continue to challenge your candidates to #BeLikeStafford and to take the positions that are the right fit for them regardless of what others may think. At the end of the day, success comes when we have the best team in place for us which leads to even greater, positive effects on educators, students, and others.

School Districts Paying Clinical Teachers Programs and school partners continue to ask if teacher candidates can be paid during their clinical teaching experience. The answer is ‘YES!’ There isn’t a rule in the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) that would prohibit an LEA from paying a teacher candidate during their clinical teaching experience. For example, currently, there are district and EPP partnerships across Texas that are working with technical assistance providers to design and implement strategic staffing models that reallocate underutilized district funds for instructional priorities to support sustainably funded teacher resident wages. These partnerships are committed to providing teacher residents with a paid, high-quality clinical teaching experience. For more information about teacher residency, please contact teateacherresidency@tea.texas.gov.
