Texas State Board of Education Chair Keven Ellis appoints Pam Little to serve as member of Texas Commission on Virtual Education
Austin, TX – December 30, 2021 - Texas State Board of Education Chair, Keven Ellis, has appointed Pam Little (R-Fairview) to serve as a member on the Texas Commission on Virtual Education. The Texas Commission on Virtual Education was created by House Bill 3643 during the 87th Legislature, Regular Session.
Little, first elected to the State Board of Education in November 2018, has served as vice-chair of the Committee on Instruction, which oversees curriculum, instructional materials, gifted and talented education, graduation requirements, and education for individuals with disabilities. In January 2021, she was elected by her fellow members as vice-chair of the State Board of Education; her leadership role will run through January 2023.
“I am proud to nominate Mrs. Little for this position. She has shown a commitment to focusing on the needs of students on topics such as this. I have no doubt she will be a tremendous asset to this committee,” said Dr. Ellis.
As a member of the Texas Commission on Virtual Education, Little will work with other members to develop and make recommendations regarding the delivery of virtual education in the public school system and on matters of state funding for virtual education under the Foundation School Program.
A native Texan who grew up in the Bryan-College Station area, Little attended Texas A&M University and graduated from the University of Houston. Residing in North Texas for more than 30 years, Little represents the citizens of Collin County and part of Dallas County in District 12 on the State Board of Education; she is a business owner and active community volunteer.
“I’m grateful to Dr. Ellis for appointing me to serve on this commission. I look forward to exploring various applications of virtual learning for students across Texas,” said Little.
