Today's newsletter provides information about Holocaust Remembrance Week 2022 webinars for Texas educators.

Webinars for Holocaust Remembrance Week 2022

In response to the passage of Senate Bill 1828 in 2019 and Texas Education Code §29.9072, the Governor’s Office designated the week of January 27 as the annual Texas Holocaust Remembrance Week in all Texas public schools. The third annual Texas Holocaust Remembrance Week will take place January 24-28, 2022. During this week, all public schools must provide age-appropriate instruction using materials developed by the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission (THGAAC).

In preparation for next month’s Holocaust Remembrance Week 2022, THGAAC is hosting two free webinars for Texas educators. The goals of the webinars are to explain requirements and options and to present available resources for use in Texas classrooms during Holocaust Remembrance Week 2022.

The webinars will take place on Monday, December 13th, and Tuesday, December 14th, at 4:30PM CST. Presenters will include the following:

  • Presenters on Monday, December 13th
    • E. Wolfson, PhD, Director of Education, Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission
    • Jessica Hanshaw, Program and Collections Specialist, Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio
    • Charlotte Decoster, PhD, Ackerman Family Director of Education, Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum
  • Presenters on Tuesday, December 14th
    • E. Wolfson, PhD, Director of Education, Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission
    • Jamie Flores, Executive Director, El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center
    • Wendy Warren, MEd, Director of Education, Holocaust Museum Houston

All Texas educators are welcome to attend either or both webinars. Each presenter will describe their institution’s available classroom resources. The panelists will also be available to answer your questions during a Q&A following their presentations.
