Purple Star Campus Designation
Has your school considered applying to become a Purple Star Campus? The most important part of being a Purple Star Campus is providing students and families with transition supports. These supports welcome new students into the school environment and ease the burden of school moves, while also providing intentional recognition and supports for addressing the unique needs of military-connected students and families.
Read the MCEC Purple Star School Program one-pager to learn more about why your school should seek a designation.

Self-Assessment Tool
The Highly Mobile & At-Risk Student Programs Division, in collaboration with the TEA Special Populations and Monitoring Division, is developing a self-assessment tool for LEAs to review implementation of services, programs, and supports for highly mobile (Foster Care, McKinney-Vento, Military-Connected) students. The self-assessment was created for LEAs as a part of the Results Driven Accountability System, which now includes highly mobile students. TEA is currently training LEAs on utilizing the self-assessment. Be on the lookout for the official release in the Spring of 2022. |

Spotlight: Fort Bliss Ready Resilience Education Summit |
The Fort Bliss School Liaison Office hosted the Transition and Resilience Education Summit event on October 27, 2021. This event was made possible by the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) 2019-2020 Kickstarter Ready Resilience Grant, which focused on building resilience within our Military families, schools, and the El Paso education community. The summit included guest panelists who discussed best practices, programs, legislation, and positive efforts that impact the educational, social, and emotional well-being of military-connected students.
Throughout the morning, participants were able to engage with panel members from the Texas Education Agency (TEA); Region 19; Army Community Services; Child, Adolescent, and Family Behavioral Health Services; and local agencies that sparked a more in-depth discussion on resilience, resilience factors, and strategies for building resilience in schools, families, and youth centers. A seated lunch for Superintendents and Fort Bliss Leadership was provided with opportunity to develop stronger relationships throughout the El Paso community and work collaboratively to enhance the educational environment for military-connected students. Approximately 150 participants attended which included some of the Fort Bliss Command Teams and many of local educators.
