Perkins V Data Report Available

The Perkins V Indicator Data Statewide report provides summary data on the performance of Texas secondary career and technical education (CTE) programs for the 2018-2019 school year as required by Sec. 113(C),(D), and (E) of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (PL 115-224, Enacted July 31, 2018), Perkins V.

The state-level data is disaggregated by:

1. Race, Gender, and Ethnicity;
2. Perkins V identified Special Populations;
3. Federal Career Clusters;
4. State Career Clusters; and
5. In the 5S4 (CTE Completers) tab – Programs of Study.

The disaggregated data is available under the following tabs of the Excel file specific to each federally reported performance indicator:

1. 1S1 – Four-Year Graduation Rate;
2. 1S2 – Extended Graduation Rate;
3. 2S1 – Academic Proficiency in Reading/Language/Arts;
4. 2S2 – Academic Proficiency in Mathematics;
5. 2S3 – Academic Proficiency in Science;
6. 3S1 – Post-Program Placement;
7. 4S1 – Non-traditional Program Concentration;
8. 5S1 – Program Quality – Attained Recognized Postsecondary Credential; and
9. 5S4 – Program Quality – CTE Completer.

The report is an accompaniment to the data available to local education agencies (LEAs) in the Texas Education Agency Login (TEAL) system through the career and technical education report (CTER) application.  Requests for access to data in the CTER application must be submitted to LEA leadership, who will forward the request to the Texas Education Agency in the TEAL system.

2021-2022 CTE Perkins Reserve Grant Request for Application

The 2021 – 2022 CTE Perkins Reserve grant application was posted on February 12, 2021. You can find the application and accompanying information on the TEA Grant Opportunities page. The Perkins Reserve grant supports cross-sector regional teams who are committed to planning or implementing education and career pathways.

Grantees will be members of the Texas Regional Pathways Network (TRPN), a growing community of regions across the state working to develop, refine, and scale high-quality education and career pathways. Through the TRPN, grantees will have the opportunity to share knowledge and best practices, make strategic connections, and build intentional partnerships across regions in service of their goals. The TRPN, supported by TEA and JFF, is comprised of regional intermediaries from across the state who are convening cross-sector stakeholders, planning, and implementing work-based learning systems, and provide technical assistance to their regional partners. For additional information, contact Amanda Longtain Amanda.Longtain@tea.texas.gov

2020-2021 CTE Summer Grant Letter of Intent

The 2020 – 2021 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Grant Letter of Intent was posted on February 24, 2021. You can access it on the TEA Grant Opportunities page.  Funding for this program is intended to provide support for districts to offer students greater access to career opportunities. The CTE Summer Grant program has two focus areas. The first focus area is to provide opportunities during the summer for CTE course work that prepares students for statewide programs of study. The second focus area is to allow for student participation in summer Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences that enhance and deepen students’ knowledge of transition directly into the workforce or can serve as building blocks toward postsecondary education.

Both focus areas provide effective strategies to ensure that students have the opportunity, experience, and credentials to pursue meaningful careers after high school.
