From the Support Team
Congratulations to new SGS Districts! After a rigorous application process, the Division of System Support and Innovation is happy to announce that four new districts are joining the SGS Network: Ector County, Garland, Grand Prairie, and Manor. We look forward to formally welcoming these districts into the Network at CIO Workshop 2. The next step for these districts is matching with an Executive Advisor firm and completing their SGS Roadmap. We’re excited to work with these District leaders for the next four years!
November Roadmaps: Updated SGS Roadmaps will be due on November 13. The SGS team will touch base with CIOs and EA firms about this topic in the October support calls.

TEA Commissioner Mike Morath is providing updates to Texas Superintendents each Thursday. Summary debriefs are linked at the bottom of the TEA's Coronavirus webpage. Two highlights from the Thursday, October 15th call is provided below:
- The Attendance & Enrollment FAQ (page 36) has been updated so that open enrollment charter schools, including district-charter partnerships, operating for the first time in 2020-21 will receive the ADA hold harmless for the first two 6-week periods of the 2020-21 school year. The FAQ includes an explanation of how the hold harmless will be calculated.
- The Special Education FAQ has been updated to explain that, if a district chooses not to offer remote instruction to its students generally, it does not have to do so for an individual student, including special education and 504 students, unless the parent requests such instruction and the ARD committee determines that remote instruction is required to fulfill the FAPE requirement.
Please visit the TEA's Coronavirus webpage for timely and comprehensive information.
