Please email Christopher.Dewitt@tea.texas.gov with questions.

Asynchronous Instruction for 1882 Partnerships: For the 2020-21 school year, operating partners may choose to:

  1. develop their own asynchronous instruction plan, or
  2. decide to follow their district authorizer's plan.

Operating partners that choose to follow their district authorizer's plan do not need to resubmit the district plan, but they must complete the operator-specific asynchronous plan submission form.

On Part II of the form, operators must indicate in the text box that they are following the district’s asynchronous instruction plan. On Part III of the form, operators must attest that their board has approved the use of the district's plan.

 Coronavirus Updates

TEA Commissioner Mike Morath is providing weekly updates to Texas Superintendents. Summary Debriefs from these calls are linked at the bottom of the TEA's Coronavirus webpage. In addition, a summary of the Tuesday, August 4th call is provided below:

1. The Public Health Guidance has been updated with a comprehensive list of screened symptoms and definition of close contact. (See pages 8-9) The guidance provides that the close contact definition should be given by local health authority; the TEA's definition is provided for use in the absence of a local definition.

2. The Attendance & Enrollment FAQ has been updated to explain that, during the school start transition period and transition extension, LEAs can claim the number of operational minutes they would have claimed had school been operating normally even if they decide to provide less than a full day of on-campus instruction. (See page 22)

3. Instructional Materials Guidance explains that, with few exceptions, LEAs cannot charge for instructional materials, including computers or hotspots. However, LEAs may charge a security deposit for the return of materials, supplies, or equipment.

Please visit the TEA's Coronavirus webpage for timely and comprehensive information.
