COVID-19 Resources

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has posted the most up-to-date information on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Support and Guidance webpage, including information about instructional continuity planning, staff and educator issues, public health resources, and more.

Information specific to special education is updated frequently and includes COVID-19-related resources such as ARD and Evaluation Considerations and At-Home Learning Resources for Students with Disabilities.

Special Education Review and Support

The Department of Review and Support in the Office of Special Populations recognizes the immediate need to obtain information regarding the impact of local education agency (LEA) closures on Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) activities scheduled for Spring 2020. This information provides details to LEAs on how DMS monitoring activities will be modified to meet their needs. During the time of school closures, Review and Support staff is available to assist LEAs in fulfilling monitoring requirements.

Who Can Receive a Meal?

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has posted an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document which clarifies that students over the age of 18 who are receiving special education services may receive a meal through the school lunch program.
