Proclamation 2021 State Review Panel

TEA needs bilingual volunteers and nominees to review prekindergarten systems materials in English and Spanish to determine the extent to which the materials address the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines.

Please consider joining us—or nominating someone else to join us—for this important work. Teachers, administrators, parents, business community members, and others with appropriate content knowledge are all welcome. Candidates must be available during the week of June 15–19, 2020, be proficient in Microsoft Excel, and be able to read on a computer screen for an extended period of time.

Nomination/volunteer forms are available on the TEA website. When asked for your committee selection, choose Proclamation 2021 State Review Panel.

Proclamation 2021—Save the Date

The Proclamation 2021 state review panel meetings will be held at the Wyndham Garden Austin Hotel on Monday, June 15–Friday, June 19, 2020. Participating publishers will receive additional information in the coming months.

Introduction to draft Proclamation 2022 Webinar and Questions and Answers

TEA staff will host a webinar to introduce publishers and other interested parties to Proclamation 2022 on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Registration is open now.

The webinar will be recorded and posted to the Publisher Portal.

Publishers interested in Proclamation 2022 are encouraged to submit questions to review.adoption@tea.texas.gov to be addressed during the webinar and for possible inclusion in Proclamation 2022 Questions and Answers.

The Proclamation 2022 Questions and Answers is scheduled to be issued by the State Board of Education (SBOE) at its September 2020 meeting.

EMAT Dates and Post-Contractual Bids

EMAT will close at noon on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. School districts and open-enrollment charter schools should place orders for instructional materials needed for the 2020–21 school year on or before April 1, 2020. EMAT will reopen for ordering materials for the 2020–21 school year on May 4, 2020.

If you are a publisher with adopted instructional materials and wish to submit a post-contractual bid or decrease the price of an existing bid for the 2020–21 school year, TEA will contact you with instructions in the coming weeks.

Education Service Center (ESC) Contact Information

The contact information for the ESCs has been updated on the ESC Portal. We will continue to post updated showcase dates for adopted materials as they become available and are forwarded to the agency.

Requests to Update Content in Adopted Instructional Materials

The Substitutions and Content Updates webpage has been updated with a substitution request from Origo Education to change content in its adopted mathematics, grades K–5 English and Spanish materials. The public is invited to review the proposed content changes and submit public comment regarding them for SBOE consideration.

The SBOE is scheduled to take action on this request at its April 2020 meeting.
