In December, TEA released an invitation for districts to apply for the 2020–2021 LSG cohort. This intensive, year-long program reimburses participants for relevant LSG expenses. It is limited to 12 school systems, and letters of interest from districts/charters are due by 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020.
More information and a template for the letter of interest are available on the TEA website.
The State Board of Education is in the process of amending its rules that govern school board member training. These rules, which impact Lone Star Governance training and workshops, were approved at first reading in November 2019 and posted to the Texas Register for public comment in December. The State Board of Education is scheduled to hear second reading and give its final approval of the rules at its January 28–31 meeting.
The proposed rule is available here.
The public comment period opened on December 20, 2019 and closes on January 24, 2020. Public comments may be submitted at this link.
New EISO training based on the updated LSG materials will begin on February 10, 2020 in Austin. If you or someone you know are interested in becoming an LSG specialist or coach, you can sign up for the training here.
More information about becoming an LSG specialist or coach is available here.
When will the new LSG Workshop and EISO training materials be available?
The new materials are in draft form and being reviewed and field tested. These materials are scheduled to be finalized and made fully available on February 3.
For the LSG Leaderboard update in May 2020, TEA will accept quarterly reviews based on either the 2019 Participant Manual or the 2020 Participant Manual. After May, however, TEA will accept quarterly reviews based on only the 2020 Participant Manual.
If you would like to preview the new LSG Participant Manual, it is available here.
