TEA is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2019–2020 Perkins Reserve Grant. Request for Application (RFA) #701-19-104 is authorized by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, Public Law (P.L.) 109-270, Title I, Part C, §112(a)(1). The RFA is available on the TEA Grant Opportunities Page.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are local educational agencies (LEAs) and education service centers (ESCs) that meet following requirements for either application pathway:

Texas Regional Pathways Network (Focus Area 1): Eligible applicants must include at least three school districts, one public institution of higher education, and at least two employers in the region. LEAs and ESCs may serve as fiscal agents for the grant.

Industry-Based Certifications (Focus Area 2): Eligible applicants can be LEAs or ESCs. LEAs and ESCs may serve as the fiscal agent for the grant.

Grant Period
- July 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020
Funding
- It is anticipated that approximately 5 to 7 grants will be awarded in Focus Area 1 for amounts up to $700,000 each and 150 grants will be awarded in Focus Area 2 for amounts up to $30,000 each.
Description
The purpose of the 2019–2020 Perkins Reserve Grant is to assist LEAs in (1) fostering innovation through the identification and promotion of promising and proven CTE programs, practices, and strategies that prepare individuals for non-traditional fields; and (2) promoting the development, implementation, and adoption of programs of study or career pathways aligned with state-identified high-skill, high-wage, in-demand occupations or industries.
Application Deadline
Applications must be received by the Texas Education Agency by 5:00 p.m. (Central Time), February 14, 2019, to be considered for funding.
