TEA is announcing the availability of grant funds for the 2018–2019 Online Bilingual Education Certification Preparation Course. Request for Application (RFA) #701-18-115 is authorized by Public Law 115-141, Every Student Succeeds Act, Title III, Part A, §3111(b)(2)(B)(i). Eligibility

Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education in Texas that offer bilingual education certification programs in both Spanish and Vietnamese that are organized around the domains and competencies that are needed to meet the requirements for bilingual education certification.

Grant Period

• November 1, 2018 to through August 31, 2019

Funding

• It is anticipated that 1 grant will be awarded for up to $300,000.

Description

The goal of this grant program is to increase the number of personnel who meet state and local certification and licensing requirements for teaching English learners. Eligible applicants must have the ability to implement and maintain online bilingual education certification courses to assist educators from various local educational agencies to prepare for the bilingual education certification examination.

Application Deadline

Applications must be received by the Texas Education Agency by 5:00 p.m. (Central Time), September 18, 2018, to be considered for funding.

The Texas Education Agency will improve outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems.
