PineyWood June

Welcome to this month’s update curated for district Chief Academic Officers. We've kept this bulletin brief to celebrate the end of the school year and to welcome in summer. Thanks for all you do for Texas students.

2018 Accountability Manual

Chapters 1–9 of the 2018 Accountability Manual are now available. Because of the required administrative rulemaking process, these chapters are not yet final. The public comment period on the proposed rules (including the manual) opened Friday, May 18, 2018, and closes on Monday, June 18, 2018. Public comments may be made through the TEA website or to performance.reporting@tea.texas.gov

Teacher Access to STAAR Portal

On May 9th, the Commissioner sent a notice to administrators about teacher access to the STAAR student portal. By working with their district testing coordinators, educators can use the tool for purposes of immediate remediation with students in need of additional help. It is important to note that since the portal includes access to real test content which has not been released yet, educators should refrain from duplicating or disseminating any test items until they are formally released this August. We have created sample logins for teachers to go in and see the portal for themselves.
