Federal Grant Funding Available for

Hurricane Harvey Relief

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Texas a new grant under the School Emergency Response to Violence (Project SERV) program. Project SERV funding is authorized under the Emergency Supplemental Act of 2002 (P.L. 107-117). The purpose of the Project SERV program is to fund short-term and long-term education-related services for LEAs to help them recover from a violent or traumatic event in which the learning environment has been disrupted. The purpose of the 2017-2018 Project SERV Hurricane Recovery Grant is to assist LEAs located in counties identified in the Presidential Disaster Declaration in recovery from disruptions to the learning environment caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Only LEAs that reside within one of the counties designated under the Presidential Disaster Declaration are eligible for this federal funding. Eligible LEAs will receive a letter from TEA dated December 21, 2017, with details on how to apply for the federal funding.

Additional Federal Funding Available through Reallocation

To further assist LEAs affected by Hurricane Harvey, this year TEA will make available reallocation funds under the programs listed below to those LEAs located in counties identified in the Presidential Disaster Declaration.

  • Title I, Part D, Subpart 2
