School Health and Related Services (SHARS) Reporting Requirement: Deadline was
October 31, 2017
As described in the September
15, 2017 letter posted to the TEA Correspondence page, all
local educational agencies (LEAs) and fiscal agents that received or
administered funds awarded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Act, Part B (IDEA-B) grant program for the 2016–2017 school year are required
to submit a SHARS Survey. The deadline for submitting the required 2016–2017 SHARS
Survey was October 31, 2017.
If you are an LEA or fiscal agent that received or
administered funds through the IDEA-B grant program during the 2016-2017 school
year and have not already submitted the SHARS Survey, please do so as soon as possible.
All LEAs that received IDEA-B federal grant funding in the
2016–2017 school year were required to submit the SHARS Reimbursement Report
Survey by October 31, 2017. Your LEA is required to respond, regardless
of whether or not you received SHARS reimbursements. TEA needs the LEA-reported
SHARS information for conducting fiscal year 2017 IDEA-B LEA Maintenance of
Effort (MOE) compliance reviews. The reviews will be made available in spring
2018.
TEA developed a SHARS Reimbursement Report Survey to collect the needed information. The survey is also available from the SHARS and IDEA-B LEA MOE Guidance page of the TEA website. It takes only a few minutes to complete the
survey. LEAs that missed the original deadline are asked to submit the survey
no later than December 1, 2017.

Compliance and Reporting Division at compliance@tea.texas.gov.
