High School Professional Development for the Revised Math TEKS

Training modules for grades K - 8 are now available online. These modules help teachers become familiar with the TEKS and supporting documents. Teachers examine the mathematical process standards, look for potential instructional gaps that may occur, and amplify lessons to address multiple student expectations.

Professional Development Opportunity – Geometry in Construction

The Texas Regional Collaboratives at UT-Austin is sponsoring a professional development opportunity for Geometry teachers. Geometry in Construction is aligned to the Geometry TEKS. The week long professional development provides teachers with the instructional materials needed to replicate the courses in Texas Schools. In this training, participants will learn how students can receive both math and CTE credit in these dual enrollment courses.

Teams consisting of one math teacher and one CTE (Construction Technology, Agriculture mechanics, Architecture, or similar CTE course) teacher, are invited to register. Additional information is available at www.thetrc.org. Registration is limited to only 40 teachers.

Texas Council for Economics Education Annual Conference

The Texas Council for Economics Education will host their annual conference at the Hotel Contessa on the San Antonio River Walk. The session dates are June 18-19, 2015. Additional information about the conference can be accessed at http://smartertexas.org/ and http://economicstexas.org/.
