After 40 years of service with the agency, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Executive Director Bryan Collier is closing a significant chapter of his tenured corrections career. Bobby Lumpkin: Named TDCJ Executive Director
The Texas Board of Criminal Justice (TBCJ) appointed Bobby Lumpkin as the new Executive Director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) at the scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, August 19. Lumpkin will assume the role effective September 1, 2025.
Effective September 1: Correctional Staff Pay Increase
TDCJ is excited to announce that for the fourth year in a row, correctional staff will receive a pay increase. This session, the Texas Legislature approved a 10% pay increase for all correctional staff. With the implementation of these raises, correctional staff have received over a 40% pay increase since 2022.
Employee Support Services: Wellness Resources for You

The goal of the Employee Support Services (ESS) section is to provide peer support to all TDCJ staff and equip them with the skills for managing work related stress and help maintain a quality of work-life balance.
