 Workbay Platform Boosts Reentry Success
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) has partnered with Workbay, an interactive career development platform, to launch a comprehensive reentry and workforce development service for incarcerated individuals. This initiative aims to equip inmates with job-ready skills, connect them with employers and support their successful transition back into the workforce.
The Workbay system was launched on three pilot locations in October 2024, now Workbay is accessible on all tablets deployed across TDCJ’s 101 units.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) was honored to welcome the United Kingdom's Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Shabana Mahmood, along with a delegation of officials. The visit aimed to explore how Texas' tough and smart approach to criminal justice is effectively cutting crime and reducing reoffending rates. During their visit, the delegates toured the Estelle Unit to gain insight into the agency's rehabilitation offerings, security operations, and best practices. TDCJ is grateful for the opportunity to share our expertise and foster an ongoing partnership focused on public safety. With Texas maintaining one of the lowest recidivism rates in the nation, the UK delegation took valuable lessons back to address their own prison system.
