TCEQ Invites Stakeholder Comments on Potential Rule Changes
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is providing the opportunity for stakeholders to provide comments on agency rules that have been identified for potential improvement through the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office’s (TREO) rule review process.
The rules identified in the list linked below may be obsolete, duplicative, ineffective, overly burdensome, or unnecessary. The agency is now seeking stakeholder input on these specific recommendations.
Any comments received on rules that are not on the list linked above will not be considered. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments via the agency’s Smart Comment portal through July 16, 2026.
Please note that the stakeholder comment period is separate from the formal rulemaking process under the Administrative Procedure Act. Any proposed rule changes will undergo the standard public comment and rulemaking procedures at a later date. All recommendations are subject to change.
If you have questions about rulemaking or the regulatory efficiency review process, please email rules@tceq.texas.gov.
