Combustion: Commonly Missed Items


Comprehensive Performance Test
Plan


Before you submit, check your plan for the following:

  1. Correspondence Coversheet (Form TCEQ-20714)
  2. Completed Comprehensive Performance Test Plan Coversheet
  3. Completed Comprehensive Performance Test Plan Review Checklist
  4. Quality Assurance Project Plan
  5. Redline/strikeout copy showing revisions made to the previous plan 
  6. Applicable portions of the Continuous Monitoring System Performance Evaluation Test Report

Comprehensive Performance Test Report


Before you submit, check your report for the following:

  1. Correspondence Coversheet (Form TCEQ-20714)
  2. Follow the CPT/RCRA Test Report Format 
  3. Field data and analytical data submitted using the Combustion Test Report Form  (Form TCEQ-20877)? 
  4. Completed Comprehensive Performance Test Laboratory Data Report QA/QC Checklist 
  5. Calculations for extrapolated metals feed rates
  6. Verify that metals feed rate values in the tables match values in the report text
  7. Detailed explanation for Automatic Waste Feed Cut-Off parameter triggers and settings
  8. Correct transcription errors for each test run by verifying the values reported are consistent with the related field data sheets

P.E. and P.G. Seal Requirements: Reminder

New or revised engineering or geology reports, groundwater reports, drawings, or calculations must be sealed, signed, and dated by a Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) or a Texas Professional Geoscientist (P.G.), as applicable. 

Revisions may be submitted as either a stand-alone addendum to the original report or may be incorporated into the original report.  If submitted as a standalone addendum, the addendum must be properly signed, sealed and dated by a Texas P.E. or Texas P.G. as required.  If the revisions are incorporated into the original report, the entire report must be sealed, signed, and dated by a Texas P.E. or P.G., as applicable.  

Remember to include the Firm Registration number when sealing professional engineering or geoscience work.


Coal Combustion Residuals: Reminder for Unregulated Units

If you have a unit managing Coal Combustion Residuals and determined that it did not need a registration under 30 TAC Chapter 352, keep supporting documentation on site.


Recent Additions to the Management Team


New Team Leader, Mario Perez

We are pleased to announce Mario Perez as the new Team Leader for IHW Permits Team 1. 

For the past few years, Mario served as an IHW permit writer. Prior to joining the IHW Permits Section, Mario was a project manager and work leader in the  Municipal Solid Waste Permits Section for 18 years.

New Work Leader, Garrett Heathman

Help us welcome Garrett Heathman to the IHW team.  Garrett will be leading a work group within IHW Permits Team 1.

Garrett started his career at TCEQ in the Water Supply Division in 2015.  Since then, he served three years as a project manager in the Municipal Solid Waste Permits Section before moving to Waste Permits Division as a technical specialist in 2019.  He transitioned to the IHW Permits Section Work Leader position this July.
