To streamline writing and review of Combustion Plans, I&HW created an electronic checklist similar to the electronic RCRA Part B checklist. The combustion checklist is currently in beta testing and expected to be released in FY 18.

Texas 85th Legislative Session

Texas’ 85th Legislative Session wrapped up June 18th without any introduced bills directly impacting I&HW. However, Senate Bill 1, the General Appropriations Bill, contained a rider funding 4 new staff positions to develop and implement a Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) program in Texas. I&HW is beginning the rulemaking process to adopt the federal rules regulating CCR management, and begin state CCR Program development.

I&HW will also undertake rulemaking to adopt multiple federal RCRA rule changes, including the Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule.  Both rulemakings may take 12-18 months for completion, and involve opportunities for the regulated community and public to participate in the process.  Stay tuned as we provide updates to these rulemakings, and future I&HW news, in future newsletters.
