Wildfire Prevention
Consider the potential consequences of outdoor target shooting and protect Texas lands when using firearms outdoors with a few fire safety tips:
- Check for county burn bans.
- Avoid shooting near dry grass or rocks, and don’t use tracer or full metal jacket ammo.
- Secure trailer safety chains to prevent sparks that can fly into dry grass along a roadside, potentially starting a fire.
- Never park over dry grass—hot catalytic converters can ignite vegetation.
Watch the video Wildfire Reminder for more tips.

Ag Clays Shooting Program
Established in 2007 and founded by Charlie Wilson, former Mobile Shooting Range Coordinator for TPWD, this program introduces clay target shooting, also known as “Ag Clays” to schools and students.
Taught by Ag Science teachers in conjunction with the Future Farmers of America (FFA), the program develops personal skills and teaches laws and ethics related to shooting, hunting, and firearm safety.
Texas students who are active Jr. FFA or FFA members in good standing with a duly chartered FFA chapter, and on current year’s formal roster are eligible. This includes students who are enrolled in school or have graduated at mid-term, or will graduate in the current school year.
Check the Ag Clays Student/Athlete Eligibility Form (pdf) for more information on how to join the program.

Bullseyes & Big Fun with DIVA WOW!
We recently teamed up with the incredible crew at DIVA WOW to host an action-packed sport shooting clinic at Elm Fork Shooting Sports in Dallas, and it was a blast—literally! Women and youth got hands-on experience with pistols, rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, archery, and even axe throwing.
Whether you were brand-new or a seasoned shot, there was something thrilling for everyone. Of course safety was top priority, with expert guidance every step of the way.
And the best part? We’re just getting started. More clinics are on the horizon, and we’d love to see you at the next one. Stay sharp—and stay tuned!
