Texas game wardens have kept watch over Texas’s wild places and wild things for more than a century, and the territory they patrol is vast—over 10 million miles by vehicle and great distances by boat, across 254 counties.
While the state of Texas provides the necessities game wardens require to do their jobs, there is always a need for highly specialized equipment. These needs vary across the state, but whatever those needs are, Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation (TPWF) is there to make sure game wardens have what they need to continue their work.
Since 2017, TPWF’s S. Reed Morian Gear Up for Game Wardens program has raised over $5.6 million in private funds to secure game-changing equipment for our game wardens, including: critical communications equipment, night vision and thermal imaging units, search and rescue thermal drones, custom-equipped ATVs and UTVs built to handle Texas’ toughest terrain, and top-of-the-line airboats for conservation law enforcement and disaster response.
