Are you fan of the Old West? Then try cowboy action shooting. This unique sport is designed for everyone — women, men and all ages — interested in competitive shooting in a safe, fun, family-friendly environment.
Competitors dress in western-style costumes, become an Old West character, and compete in a variety of fast-paced, action-packed steel target shooting events.
Typical firearms from the time period are used, including single action revolvers, lever action rifles, double barrel shotguns and other pre-1899 guns.
You can search for events or find a club near you to get in on the Old West action!

Texans Medal in Olympic Shooting Sports
Shooting sports and Texans are a natural fit, as proved when 3 Texans on the shooting team helped make history with 5 total medal wins at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Native Texans Austen Smith of Keller and Conner Prince of Burleson each took home individual medals in their respective Men's and Women's Skeet events.
Smith also won silver with her teammate, coach and North Texas resident, Vincent Hancock, in the Mixed Team Skeet competition. Hancock won his fourth gold medal in Men's Individual Skeet, joining Prince on the podium and becoming the first shooting Olympian to win 4 gold medals in the same event.

Texan Wins Archery Gold at Paris Paralympics
Army veteran and Brownsville, Texas native Jason Tabansky won Paralympic gold on his final arrow, upsetting the top-ranked Para archer in the world in the process.
