Let’s Go Fishing in a Neighborhood Fishin’ Lake!
Are you new to fishing or looking for a place to take the kids or grandkids fishing, without traveling far?
Neighborhood Fishin' is a program for Texans in urban areas who want to go fishing close to home.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department works with local governments and private partners to stock catfish (April through October, except in August) and rainbow trout (late November to early March) in small neighborhood lakes.
- Neighborhood Fishin’ spots are safe, fun places for beginners and youth to go fishing.
- The fish are fun to catch, and big enough to keep (and eat).
Most lakes are stocked every two weeks to ensure excellent fishing experiences.

Fish Stocking Dates
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stocks channel catfish and rainbow trout that are big enough to catch and keep.
- Catfish stockings run April through October. No stockings will occur in the month of August, to protect the fish during highest water temperatures.
- Trout stockings begin in late November and continue until early March.
* Most lakes are stocked every other Friday for weekend fishing. However, dates may change due to weather or other circumstances.
