We hope you and your family are well during these challenging times and have the opportunity to spend time outdoors together – whether relaxing in your yard, walking in your neighborhood or going fishing close to home.

Safety first

It is critical for your safety and the well-being of your community that you practice social distancing. Strictly follow any state or local orders related to the pandemic, and adhere to all guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services

Please remember to keep 6 feet away from others and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer regularly – especially after you touch any surface in a public area.

Fishing information

If you plan to go fishing, we recommend checking local orders related to COVID-19, as well as the status of the location you’re planning to fish. Some access points may be closed. You’ll find contact information for waterbody controlling authorities for most of the larger lakes in the Texas Lake Finder. For the latest on fishing access at Texas State Parks, check the Texas State Parks Alert Map.

As always, you’ll need a valid fishing license and to follow the pertinent Texas fishing regulations, which can be found in the Outdoor Annual. It’s easy to get a fishing license if you need one – just call (800) 895-4248 or buy online. For the latest information on Texas fishing, visit tpwd.texas.gov.
