An Important Update for Our Visitors

Texas State Parks

Our thoughts are with you and our entire Texas family during this uncertain time. Texas State Parks are doing our best to provide a healthy way for you to get outdoors. Our dedicated teams across the state are working diligently to keep these special places open and safe during this difficult time.

Most state parks remain open.

However, we have made some changes to help protect the health and well-being of our visitors, volunteers and staff. One big change: starting April 1 you must purchase all day-use and camping permits online before your visit.

As you know, this situation continues to evolve. More changes (including park closures) may happen suddenly. Be sure to check the Texas State Parks Alert Map or contact the park for updates before you head out.

What to expect if you visit a park:

  • No on-site transactions beginning April 1. You must pre-register and pay all day-use and overnight fees online before you arrive. For help with this process, visit our Reservation Information page for simple how-to videos.
  • Fewer park visitors allowed. Fewer visitors makes it easier to comply with social distancing guidelines.
  • No programs or equipment rentals.
  • Site closures. Sites where more than 10 people can gather have been closed, including headquarters buildings, group sites, interpretive centers and stores.
  • Park closures. Some parks are closed due to difficulty complying with guidelines for social distancing or disinfecting. Check the Alert Map for the latest status of parks.

If you decide to cancel your visit in March or April, we will waive cancellation fees. To cancel without fees, contact our Customer Service Center at (512) 389-8900 or email customer service.

If your reservation is impacted by a facility or park closure, a Customer Service Center agent will contact you – you do not need to contact us. We are contacting customers in order of arrival date and appreciate your patience. For general park information visit TexasStateParks.org.

We urge you to follow guidelines set by federal, state and local officials regarding social distancing, crowd size and other protocols. In return, we promise to remain diligent in making your visit safe and enjoyable.

Sincerely,

Rodney Franklin
