Action Needed: Texas Master Naturalist Survey

Texas Master Naturalist

Dear Master Naturalists,

As you may have heard, we are in the process of evaluating our 2016 published Texas Master Naturalist Statewide Curriculum. Our goal is to understand how this curriculum is serving our volunteers, and how we could improve it. The evaluation tool that we have selected is a survey (link to survey is below) that is open to all currently active members. The survey is 150 multiple choice questions and should take about an hour to complete. Think of it as a pop quiz of your Master Naturalist knowledge!

This survey is completely optional, and there will be no penalty for choosing not to take it. However, each member who takes the survey is eligible to receive 1 hour in VMS for completing the survey, which may be logged upon completion. This hour may be logged under “Chapter Admin/State Program Office” with a sub-category “State Program Office.”

The deadline to take this survey is August 15th so that we have enough time to conduct an analysis on the data received. With this in mind, we’d like to get as much data as possible, so participation is highly encouraged!

The first question of the survey asks you to type in your VMS username. Rest assured, this survey will remain anonymous—we will not release individual results to anyone beyond the individual who took the survey. The VMS username is being used as a unique identifier in this survey. The unique identifier allows us to collect the data without having to ask for your name or email address. It also allows us to limit the amount of times a participant can take the survey, and where some volunteers share a common email address with their spouse, the VMS username is completely unique to each individual.

If you need to take a break while working on the survey, you can simply close your browser window and restart the survey from where you left off using the same link. (As long as you don't clear your browser's cache/cookies in the interim).

We’re looking forward to seeing the results, and we hope you are too! We have been in contact with your chapter presidents and training officers, so they are a good resource if you have any questions.

Thank you for all that you do as a Texas Master Naturalist!
