Harnessing Renewable Energy for Parks
Wind and solar power currently provide 100% renewable energy to about half of all your state parks. By using sustainable, renewable energy, CO2 emissions are lowered, and money previously spent on energy can be used for park improvements instead. Visit our Sunny Portal page to find out which parks have renewable energy, then click on the park names to see how well it's working.
In April, 3 more parks received solar panel installations through our partnership with Green Mountain Energy: Dinosaur Valley, Eisenhower, and Estero Llano Grande. All the renewable energy systems at parks are grid-tied, so more energy can be pulled from the grid if needed.
Read about other ways we work to reduce energy costs and conserve natural resources in the magazine story, Going Green.
