New anglers, this is your chance to catch a keeper close to home. We're stocking catfish in Neighborhood Fishin' lakes and ponds across the state! Pictured above are some of the first channel catfish caught during the spring stocking season. Please remember the rules: five fish per day, pole and line only, two or fewer poles per person.
Big things can happen to small water bodies. Burke Crenshaw Pond in Pasadena and Herman Little Pond near Spring are Neighborhood Fishin's newest additions. Thanks to partnerships with these local parks and recreation and utility districts, even more new Texas anglers will have an opportunity to catch a fish close to home.
Did you know more than a third of freshwater anglers in Texas prefer catfish? Neighborhood Fishin' stocks channel catfish because they are fun to catch and delicious to eat. The lakes in this program are in community parks and are great places for new anglers to try fishing close to home.
Kids under 17 fish for free. Adults need their fishing license. These can be purchased for as little as $11 for “one-day, all-water” access. All proceeds go toward management and conservation of these fish and their habitats.
Gulf States Toyota donates proceeds from Bassmaster Texas Fest to benefit youth fishing and urban outreach programs, including this one. Together with local supporters, they help make Neighborhood Fishin' possible. This year's tournament is May 2-6 in Lake Fork and features world-class fishing, live music, an outdoors expo, and fun activities for the entire family.
