All boats can transport invasive zebra mussels, but wet-slipped boats that have been stored on lakes with zebra mussels carry the highest risk of causing a new infestation.
Marinas can help protect Texas lakes by working with TPWD to ensure boats are properly decontaminated and fully dried before moving them to another lake.
Don’t risk moving invasive zebra mussels! Get guidance on how to decontaminate boats. Call the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s 24/7 hotline at (512) 389-4848 or email AquaticInvasives@tpwd.texas.gov.
