Autumn in Texas brings some of the best weather of the year! Enjoy the crisp fall season with free park entry on Veterans Day, a colorful hike, a feast in the park, or a camping getaway.
Thank you to all veterans and active military personnel for your service! In your honor, TPWD will waive day-use entry fees for everyone on Sunday, Nov. 11 (camping and other activity fees will still apply). Gather your family and spend the day exploring a park near you, for free.
The leaves have just started to turn, and you'll find colorful fall foliage in many of our state parks. Lost Maples, Caprock Canyons, Copper Breaks and Ray Roberts Lake all offer gorgeous walks through autumn leaves. East Texas hardwoods shine bright at state parks too. Get an eyeful of elms, oaks, and hickories at Cooper Lake, Daingerfield, and Martin Creek Lake.
Insider tip: If your schedule is flexible and you want to avoid some of the crowds, aim for a mid-week visit.

It's a smorgasbord of state parks events! See what's on the menu and enjoy nature's bounty. Pick from special Thanksgiving and fall food events like harvest hikes, a taste of traditional acorn fry bread, gratitude scavenger hunts, and more.
Fall is one of the most popular times to camp, and you can find a spot and book your reservation online! Want to try something a little fancier? Our state parks have lots of cabin and shelter options in addition to tent camping.
Go somewhere new: is your favorite spot already full? Chances are you can still find a place nearby.
